Business is getting tougher these days, and having a successful home business is even tougher. To ensure your success, today i will give you some tips that'll help put you ahead of the pack and keep you earning in a tough market.
• Expect to sweat!
Cruel, I know, just when you were fantasizing about long lunches and endless golf games. We only tend to think about the perks of being a boss, not the hard work that comes with the position.
In reality, your boss probably works 12 hour days, and takes work home. And that's just an example of the level of commitment you'll need to get a home-business off the ground.
• Discipline is harder than you think!
Being your own boss is a dream position to be in, but there's a real risk of slackening because the temptation to live out the life of a boss stereotype can lead you astray.
So, you'll get up, see it's a sunny day and say to yourself, "Take all my calls and move my appointments, I'm off to golf". The bad thing about this is, there'll be no one around to stop you. Do you need a boss to constantly sit on you to finish a job, or do you happily work until a job is done without any pressure? Give some serious thought to the aforementioned questions.
If you fall into the first category, you'll have to reform asap. Enrolling in a business management course that includes time management is a great idea.
• Time "stealers"At home everything takes so much longer to get done than you think, because there are so many distractions that steal your time. The baby crying, social phone calls, visitors, blah blah can all steal away your time and attention from what needs to be done. Henceforth, what usually took an hour in the office could take one and a half hours at home! More pitfalls will be discussed in the next article.
To your success.......
