Home business mistakes to avoid (pt 2)

• Its not just about the money!
Working for yourself is exciting at first, but the excitement fades with time if money is your main motivator. Even if you're making an above average income, you will end up getting used to your new level of income, so that alone isn't the best of motivations.

Remember, you're going to have to work long hours to get your business off the ground, maybe for free in the first couple of weeks or even months! Working on something you are passionate about will keep you focused and happy even when the money hasn't started pouring in.

To ensure success, you need to love your work because it's easier to keep going when the going gets tough.

• Cover the basics
Buying good quality office equipment such as a computer, printer, scanner and fax machine is a great investment. Any correspondence with your clients needs to be impressive and investing in quality office equipment is 1 step towards ensuring that.

• Carve the image of success
Create the illusion of good-standing and impeccable credentials by investing in good quality stationery and getting a pro to design your logo. When you work for an established company at big offices, it's easy to project an image of success and competence but it's a bit harder when are you working from home.

But there are probably things you take for granted at an established office that could let you down when you shift to a home business.

Follow the above guide and make sure you give your home business the best possible chance of success!
